About Quilt National '09

Quilt National '09 is the sixteenth in the series of biennial international juried competitions dedicated to promoting the contemporary quilt as an art form. For more than 30 years, Quilt National has showcased the most exciting and innovative trends in the medium. The jurors will select approximately 85 works that represent unique approaches to the medium and that demonstrate the breadth and diversity of contemporary expressions.

These works will be on display in Athens, Ohio, at the Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center from May 23 through to September 7, 2009.

Visitors to Quilt National '09 will see that the time-honored traditions are thriving and are being expressed in new forms as today's artists rise to the challenge of new techniques and materials.

Following its debut in Athens, portions of the collection will circulate to other venues through December 2011. There are still openings available in the schedule for the three touring collections. If you would like to see one of the Quilt National collections in your area, we suggest that you contact the director or curator of your local museum or gallery and request that Quilt National be included in his/her future schedule.
